Ed Harris

Founder and CEO

Ed Harris is an experienced business leader with extensive investment banking and corporate management experience. Ed began his career with the investment banking firm of Salomon Brothers in New York, where he worked on several billion dollars worth of debt, equity and merger and acquisition transactions for a range of domestic and international clients. After moving to Seattle in 1990, Ed served as CFO of three startup companies which he led to liquidity: a wireless company acquired by AT&T for $400 million; an internet company acquired by Disney for $1 billion, and an online high school purchased by the parent company of the University of Phoenix.

Ed also served as a senior member of the investment team which managed the venture capital portfolio of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. At Vulcan, Ed was responsible for investments in a wide range of communications and technology companies. Ed has served on several public company boards, including Edison Schools, acquired by private equity for $190 million and Click2Learn, which completed a merger of equals with a public competitor valued at $400 million.

Ed earned his BA in Economics from Rutgers University and his MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, graduating from both schools with academic honors. He has lived and traveled internationally and speaks two foreign languages. Ed currently lives with his family in the greater Seattle area, and as a former New Yorker enjoys life in the Pacific Northwest.​
